Use Pink Paint To Upgrade The Walls In Your Daughter's Room

Five years ago, my husband and I began a massive renovation project at our home. Our first task was to transform an outdated guest bathroom. We took down floral wallpaper. Once the wallpaper was down, we painted the small space a beautiful, light shade of blue. Do you desperately desire to give a small bathroom in your home the wow factor? Consider painting it a light green, blue, gray, yellow, or tan color. You might even wish to install wallpaper in a metallic hue. On this blog, I hope you will discover the numerous ways painters and wallpaper hangers can help you make your home look more modern. Enjoy!

Teenagers typically like to express themselves, and your daughter is no exception if she has asked you to paint the white walls in her bedroom pink. Achieving an upgrade like this does not need to be stressful and can actually be enjoyable, as long as decisions are made beforehand and you have assistance with the project. Here's a guide for what to do.

Agree Upon A Color

Your daughter prefers pink, but "pink" encompasses everything from pale, soft shades to bold, distinct shades. If you are opposed to a drastic change and want the paint to be on the soft side, tell your daughter your preference and ask her what she thinks about it.

Pick up some paint sample cards from a supplier and show your daughter some options that you would like her to choose from. Being able to select the actual shade may go down well, and your loved one may not be so upset if she can't choose a fluorescent or dark shade like she originally wanted to.

Choose A Paint Type

Gloss, semi-gloss, satin, and matte are all varieties of paint. Acrylic and latex are the main two types of paint. Acrylic is oil-based and latex is water-based. Acrylic may take longer to dry than latex, so choose latex if you want to complete the project and get your daughter's room back in order in a short amount of time.

As for the paint varieties, if you are concerned with staining, a satin or matte paint may work best. This type of paint lies flat and does not have a shiny appearance. If shine is more of a preference, a gloss or semi-gloss will be needed. Shinier paints, however, tend not to cover imperfections. If minor damage, such as scratch marks, is already apparent, you may wish to steer clear from gloss or semi-gloss paints.

Purchase Additional Necessities For The Job

If your daughter has agreed to help you, you will both need a paint roller, narrow paintbrush, and paint tray. A couple rolls of tape and plastic sheeting can be used to protect outlets, mouldings, flooring, or other features in the room.

If your daughter has never painted before, demonstrate the proper way to coat a roller and paintbrush before allowing her to begin painting a wall. Start on opposite sides of the room so that the two of you do not get in each other's way. Little by little, you will see the progress that is being made, and the room will soon be transformed into one with fresh, pink walls.
